Somerset Historical Society

The newly formed Somerset Historical Society is dedicated to the collection, preservation, and sharing of the history of the Somerset area.

We have use of the Historic Town Hall built in 1886, and are located in the Village of Somerset, where we hold open house events during which we present information on various pieces of our history.

During 2026, we will be documenting the history of Samuel Harriman, who is known as the founder of Somerset.

We work closely with the Somerset Public Library and The Scott History & Genealogy Room, with its expansive collection of family genealogies, plat books, local newspaper clippings, oral histories, and Somerset history books and stories.
